But CBS’s bowl game predictions will certainly be of interest to a number of schools, including Iowa.On Thursday CBS bowl expert Jerry Palm released his predictions for bowl games in the 2019 season. While the usual suspects are expected to be contending for the major bowl games, Iowa will be elsewhere.Palm is projecting the Hawkeyes to play in the Redbox Bowl against Pac-12 giant Washington State. It would be Iowa’s first appearance in the bowl. The Redbox Bowl is annually contested between a Big Ten and a Pac-12 team. Last year the Oregon Ducks beat the Michigan State Spartans, 7-6. Looking at the records of the teams that have been invited to the Redbox Bowl, it doesn’t bode well for Iowa.In each of the last five years, the Big Ten representative in the Redbox Bowl has had seven regular season wins or fewerSuffice it to say, Iowa getting into the Redbox Bowl would be a bit of a dropoff from last year’s 8-4 season.Iowa went on to beat No. 25 Mississippi State in the Outback Bowl to finish 9-4.
