He says although legislation cannot prevent accidents, if persons adhere to the laws it could significantly lessen the amount of road fatalities in the country. He was addressing the Launch of Local activities on the Decade of Action on Road Safety on Friday.“It is apparent that there is a need for further legislation and regulation. It is not legislation however that will prevent accidents, it is you and I,’ he said.According to Mr Peter, “if we adopt much of the rules, it is apparent that the number of road accidents will reduce”.He said one area of concern is that of wearing helmets.“This issue will be addressed. Government is committed to work with individuals, non government organizations and the wider society to redress, reduce and if possible eliminate the unacceptable and largely avoidable incidence of death on our roads”, Peters explained.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
